What 20 W does better
The current ComMarker B6 conventional-fiber page positions its 20 W tier for marking and engraving metal and lists it below the 30 W configurations. It is the lower-cost research path when an exact sample meets appearance, durability and cycle requirements.
Lower purchase cost has value only after the same lens, fixture, controls and inspection burden are included.
What 30 W does better
The same official page positions 30 W for marking, engraving and deep-engraving research. More average power can provide useful headroom, but the actual gain must be timed on the exact alloy, geometry, lens and depth requirement.
Require matched 20 W and 30 W samples or a vendor-supported timing study. Do not turn a category claim into a universal percentage.
Limitations of 20 W
A 20 W system may miss a required depth or cycle target even when it produces a visible mark. Repeated passes can add heat, process time and development burden rather than creating an equivalent production result.
A larger field lens can change energy delivery and part fit. Qualify the chosen optical configuration, not the source box in isolation.
Limitations of 30 W
