Map the catalog before the machines
List each planned product as acrylic, identified glass or crystal, wood, coated plate, anodized aluminum, bare metal or mixed construction. Then separate cutting, surface engraving, coating removal and direct marking.
CO₂ candidates such as P2S and Polar Lite fit documented acrylic, wood and selected glass-surface workflows. GM60 Pro MOPA fits qualified small-format metal marking. Lumos Ultra represents specialist UV research for documented glass and ceramic marking.
Choose a CO₂-led shop when
Choose a CO₂-led shortlist when acrylic cutting, wooden bases and documented glass-surface engraving make up most of the catalog. Compare active area, object height, visual placement, cooling, exhaust and the fixture space required for repeat orders.
Coated or anodized plates may support documented surface-removal workflows, but that does not prove direct marking of bare trophy metal.
Choose a fiber, MOPA or UV path when
Use conventional fiber or MOPA research when direct marking of qualified bare-metal plates, medallions or components is central. Justify MOPA only with a pulse-control requirement and exact alloy sample.
Use UV research when a documented fine-marking result on a specific glass, ceramic or sensitive product justifies the specialist field and cost. Neither category is a universal trophy cutter.
Qualify fixtures and the complete cycle
Measure the award, base, lid clearance, focus range, clamping margin and rotary diameter/length. Build repeatable fixtures and registration records for recurring names, logos and dates.
Time data intake, artwork proofing, loading, focus, marking, inspection, cleaning, assembly and packing. Maximum head speed does not describe finished awards per hour.
Who should choose neither
Choose neither when the substrate or coating is unidentified, the award exceeds documented focus or rotary geometry, glass stress behavior has not been qualified, or the shop cannot control fumes, beam and fire risk.
Outsource low-volume exception materials. One well-qualified core process plus reliable outsourced exceptions can be safer and more profitable than an unsupported all-material claim.
Do not promise a universal awards machine. Verify every acrylic, glass, coating, alloy, adhesive and geometry against the exact system and acceptance method.
