What Lumos Ultra does better

The current base configuration provides a documented 6 W, 355 nm UV source for fine work on selected glass, ceramic, plastics and other materials supported by the exact documentation. Its standard area is 210 × 210 mm, with separate crystal, slider and conveyor contexts.

Optional 60 W or 100 W MOPA configurations expand the process and raise the current price substantially. They must be treated as different purchase configurations, not free capability in the UV base.

What F2 Ultra does better

The documented dual configuration combines a 40 W blue diode with a 60 W, 1064 nm MOPA source, routing organic materials and metals to different sources. A less expensive MOPA-only configuration is also current. The recorded internal field is 220 × 220 mm.

This makes F2 Ultra the clearer research path when the paid mix needs MOPA metal marking alone or both documented diode work and MOPA marking. The separate F2 Ultra UV is different hardware and is not included.

Limitations and cost

Lumos Ultra was a preorder when checked, its class was not established in the reviewed evidence, and its extractor depends on configuration. F2 Ultra does not include UV; the current official FAQ also says it is no longer LightBurn-compatible.

On 3 Sep 2026, Lumos Ultra was $3,799 for UV only and $6,490 for a UV-plus-60 W MOPA package; F2 Ultra was $4,299 MOPA-only and $5,299 for the 60 W MOPA-plus-40 W diode configuration. Compare exact carts, rotary or conveyor, extractor, shipping, tax and site work.

Who should choose neither

Choose neither if the core job is large-format sheet cutting, if the material is unidentified, or if required controls cannot be installed. A dedicated CO₂, conventional fiber or larger production platform may fit better.

Request exact-material samples and current manuals before treating either platform as production-qualified.
