What F1 Ultra does better
Current official comparison data lists a 20 W fiber plus 20 W diode architecture, a 220 × 220 mm standard field, 14.7 kg weight and a smaller 273 × 373 × 492 mm body. It is the simpler, lower-cost entry when conventional-fiber results satisfy the exact metal product.
Its lighter footprint can matter for bench loading and route planning. Confirm the selected conveyor, rotary, extraction and regional bundle rather than treating the standalone machine as the complete station.
What F2 Ultra does better
The reviewed dual-source F2 Ultra uses a 60 W MOPA plus 40 W diode architecture. MOPA pulse-width control and the higher source tiers create a broader process-development path when the exact alloy, depth, contrast or diode workload proves a need.
Official comparison data lists the same 220 × 220 mm standard field and a 220 × 500 mm conveyor field, so F2 Ultra's premium is not a larger standard field. Its listed 21.6 kg weight and 294 × 429 × 521 mm body require more route and bench allowance.
Limitations of F1 Ultra
F1 Ultra's conventional fiber source does not expose the same MOPA control path. If matched samples show that pulse control or deeper removal materially changes accepted output or cycle time, the lower purchase cost can be a false economy.

Limitations of F2 Ultra
F2 Ultra is heavier and more expensive, and its MOPA variables add process-development work. The current product family includes dual-source and MOPA-only configurations; a quote must name the exact one.

Compare written quotes with the same extraction, rotary or conveyor requirements, shipping, taxes, training and support scope. Do not divide this difference by assumed sales to claim payback; use your own accepted-unit costs and realistic capacity in the scenario calculator.
Who should choose each—or neither
Choose F1 Ultra when conventional-fiber and 20 W diode samples pass, the lower installed cost matters and observed capacity is sufficient. Choose F2 Ultra when matched MOPA or 40 W diode work creates a documented result or capacity advantage worth the premium.
Choose neither when the 220 × 220 mm field does not fit, the material or coating is unknown, the required result cannot be qualified, or the installation depends on unsupported control shortcuts.
