What xTool P2S does better
P2S documents a 600 × 305 mm active area versus Polar Lite at 510 × 300 mm. Its dual 16 MP camera workflow, curved-surface scanning and optional riser/rotary ecosystem support buyers who value visual placement and more horizontal capacity.
xTool Studio uses the cameras and autofocus. For repeated irregular placement, that integrated workflow can matter more than the shared 55 W source rating.
What OMTech Polar Lite does better
Polar Lite is the smaller physical system and its current US price record is lower than P2S's dated standalone record. It includes LightBurn-oriented operation, integrated water cooling and air assist in the reviewed official configuration.
For buyers whose products fit 510 × 300 mm and who prefer a LightBurn-centered workflow, the lower entry price can preserve budget for exhaust, electrical, fixtures, stock and maintenance.
Limitations of P2S
P2S is larger and heavier, and its full value depends on whether the camera-led xTool workflow is useful. LightBurn cable operation does not support the cameras or autofocus.
Verify the exact Class 1 or Class 4 SKU, regional warranty, riser and rotary geometry, exhaust route and built-in cooling maintenance. Do not assume the standalone box is the final installation.
Limitations of Polar Lite
Polar Lite's smaller work area can constrain sheet nesting or finished-product size. Its passthrough has limited height, and its camera/placement workflow is not the same as P2S.
Built-in exhaust fans and pipe do not prove that the final route, make-up air or filtration meets the manual and local requirements. Confirm current warranty, software license, bundle and support scope before relying on them.
Who should choose each—or neither
Choose P2S when the extra width and integrated visual placement reduce real setup or nesting constraints. Choose Polar Lite when the product fits its envelope, LightBurn is preferred and lower capital cost leaves room for a complete installation.
Choose neither when the material is unidentified, the part or rotary geometry does not fit, the exhaust/cooling path is unresolved, or direct bare-metal marking is the primary job.
This is not a hands-on test. It is an exact-model decision brief using official sources rechecked 7 Sep 2026; prices and regional terms must be verified again at checkout.
